Local Chapter Undergraduate Scholarship

Annually the New Orleans chapter of the American Society of Women Accountants (ASWA) awards local Julie A. Ard Scholarships to accounting students at area universities pursuing undergraduate degrees. Julie A. Ard served as President of the Chapter from 1982-1983 and died while in office.

The number and amount of scholarships to be awarded each year are determined by the Scholarship Trustees. Please contact the Student Development Chair for more information about this year's scholarship program. Scholarships will be paid to recipients' schools after July 1st.

Requirements

ASWA New Orleans Chapter requirements are as follows for the undergraduate scholarship:

  1. Shall be either a part-time or full-time student, pursuing either an associate's of applied science or bachelor's degree in accounting.
  2. Shall have completed a minimum of 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours within four weeks of the application deadline.
  3. Shall be attending an accredited community college, college, university or professional school of accounting.
  4. Need not be a member of American Society of Women Accountants.

When reviewing applications, the Scholarship Committee considers the following when making their selections:

  • Career goals
  • Communication skills
  • Financial need and circumstances
  • Personal circumstances
  • Grade point average

Application

An application packet consists of all of the following:

  1. A completed New Orleans Chapter application form (typed, if possible). Click here for a link to the Undergraduate Application.
  2. An original current official college transcript (in sealed envelope) for each application.
  3. Two original, signed, letters of recommendation for each application.

Only completed applications with all attachments that are received by the deadline will be considered. All information received by ASWA is held in the strictest of confidence.
