Requirements and Dues

There are five classes of membership: regular, associate, affiliate, retired, and honorary. National membership (for all classes) in the American Society of Women Accountants is a requirement for membership in this Chapter. By filling out this application and paying the amount shown next to the appropriate class below, you are applying/paying for membership in both the national organization and the local New Orleans' Chapter.

Regular Membership Annual dues: $134.00

  1. Qualifications:
    1. Persons who are actively engaged in accounting and who have two (2) years or more of accounting experience may become regular members.
    2. Persons who hold valid CPA certificates granted by any state or territory of the United States or the District of Columbia, or its equivalent or other accounting or financial certifications with similar education or experience requirements as determined by the national board of directors, may become regular members.
    3. Persons who have graduated from accredited universities or colleges with a bachelor's degree and a major in accounting or its equivalent, may become regular members.
  2. Regular members shall have all the privileges of the Chapter.

Associate Student Membership Annual dues: $51.00

  1. Qualifications:
    1. Persons who are regularly enrolled students in accredited post-secondary educational institutions, colleges, or universities and majoring in accounting or a related field with a substantial interest in accounting may become associate members.
    2. Persons who are actively engaged in accounting with less than two (2) years experience, may become associate members.
  2. Associate members shall have all the rights and privileges of the Chapter.
  3. Associate membership shall be limited to two (2) years following attainment of qualifications for regular membership and a maximum of seven (7) years.
  4. Reclassification from associate to regular or affiliate membership may be requested upon attaining the required qualifications.

Affiliate Membership Annual dues: $134.00

  1. Persons who are not actively engaged in accounting, but who have a substantial interest in accounting, may become affiliate members.
  2. Affiliate members shall have all the rights and privileges of the Chapter.
  3. Reclassification from affiliate to regular membership may be requested upon attaining the required qualifications.

Retired Membership Annual dues: $41.00

  1. Qualifications:
    1. Regular and affiliate members who have attained age sixty-five (65) as of June 1 and who have been regular or affiliate members for the shorter of five (5) consecutive years or the life of the Chapter, may become retired members upon request.
    2. Regular and affiliate members who have been retired from all gainful employment due to disability as of June 1 may become retired members upon request.
    3. Regular and affiliate members who have reached age fifty-five (55) as of June 1, are retired from all gainful employment, and have been a regular or affiliate member for the shorter of ten (10) consecutive years or the life of the Chapter, may become retired members upon request.
  2. Retired members shall retain the privileges and rights of the Chapter as regular or affiliate members, respectively.

Honorary Membership

  1. Persons who are outstanding in the profession locally or who have given valuable contributions to the work of this Chapter may be elected to honorary membership by a two-thirds vote, provided notice of such proposed election has been submitted to each member at least (30) days in advance.
  2. Honorary members who were members in good standing upon election to honorary membership shall retain all their former rights and privileges in the Chapter.
  3. The Chapter assumes the liability for national dues of all members it elects to honorary membership in the Chapter.
